This Time Last Year

Well, today has been a very bittersweet day.  All day long, Charlie and I have recapped on where we were and what was going on this time last year.  I had gotten up to go to work feeling not so hot.  I then taught school all day while experiencing contractions.  By the end of the afternoon, I was really uncomfortable.  Charlie came home in the late afternoon and we began timing my contractions while I was on and off the phone with my mom and my best friend.  I remember telling Charlie, "This is not how I planned it!  I wanted to have a full night's sleep and then wake up in the morning to have a baby!"  Charlie's reply was "fine just go back to the bed and lay down, we can go to the hospital in the morning!"   My response back was, "I can't go to sleep because every time I close my eyes, it (the contractions) keeps happening!"  Finally by 1:00 in the morning we decided to pack the car and go.  I'll spare all the details since practically everyone who reads my blog already knows it. Cole was born on Feb. 23rd at 11:40 a.m.  What a beautiful miracle he was then and remains today.

So tonight, I toast to a wonderful, amazing
first year with my baby boy.  We have definitely learned a lot!  He brings us so much joy and smiles everyday.  I never knew how much I could love a child until I had my own.  Happy Birthday Cole!  We love you!

Love,
Mommy and Daddy
