Sweet sweet trip

Over Easter, my family packed the car and took a trip to Pennsylvania.  My grandmother lives there along with other family members.  This was going to be our first long trip with Cole. Even though we were a little skeptical about Cole withstanding a long amount of time in his car seat, we were very excited about him meeting his great grandmother for the first time.  We left the day before Easter and arrived to our hotel in the late afternoon.  Cole did awesome the whole way there.  He watched his "babies" movie and read lots of books!!

We went over to see my grandmother after dinner and she was so excited to see all of us, especially Cole.  We sat around and talked for a while.  Cole enjoyed playing peek-a-boo behind Mom-Mom's bed and then became very interested in her wheel chair because it had his favorite thing these days---wheels!  Mom-Mom wanted him to sit on her lap.  Once he was on her lap, she insisted on us pushing her down the hallway so that he could ride (also, so she could show how proud she was of her 5th great-grandchild sitting on her lap).  I felt so much joy watching them be together.  That was one of the most beautiful things that I've ever seen.
We left later on and had a great night's sleep from the long day of traveling.  The next morning, we went to church with my grandmother for Easter.
After church, we took mom-mom to my Aunt Peggy and Uncle Dale's house for an Easter lunch. My cousins Chris and Brian came over with their wives and their two children each.  Cole loved playing with his 3rd cousins whom were all older than he!  Jacob loved giving him hugs the entire time!  Later that night, Joel and Catherine arrived at the hotel.  After visiting and unpacking, we called it a night and slept very well again.

On Monday, we got up for the day and visited with some good friends of my mom at the hotel.  We went to visit Mom-Mom again and also went to see my Auntie Lou.  Later that evening, we went out to dinner at a great Italian favorite of my dad's and then went to visit Mom-Mom again before she went to bed.  Cole enjoyed another few rounds with Mom-Mom on her wheel chair.  He began to get really excited every time that he saw it.

On Tuesday (our last day), Catherine and I went over to see Mom-Mom while the boys went to pack up some furniture from my mom-mom's house.  Catherine and I visited with her and then mom-mom and I began our traditional game of rummy.  I love playing with her!!  We wheeled her down for lunch and sat with her as she ate.  We got to meet all of her friends that sit at her table with her.  We left after her lunch to eat ourselves and then came back again in the afternoon with Cole.  That evening, we went back over to my aunt's house for an awesome dinner.  Then, we went to kiss Mom-Mom goodnight and spend a little bit more time with her before we were to leave in the morning.  I remember wanting everything to move in slow motion so that I could take in every moment of being with her.  I love her so much.  I loved watching her interact with Cole and smiled every time she leaned over to kiss him.  I can hear her voice now saying, "Cole, I love you.  God bless him." May God bless you Mom-Mom.  I love you.
