At dinner tonight we cooked cheeseburgers and vegetables. For those of you who know me, you know that I LOVE ketchup. I could put it on anything and have pretty much tried to do so. Charlie, on the other hand, can't stand it. He doesn't even like raw tomatoes. Cole loves tomatoes, so it shouldn't have surprised me when he wanted some of the ketchup that I had on my burger. He is now at the age where he notices everything that goes on your plate. If you have something that he doesn't, he lets you know real quick. Anyway, he really wanted some ketchup from my plate. I decided to cut a small piece of the burger and dip it into the ketchup. He tasted it and immediately wanted more. I took the ketchup bottle and squeezed a tiny amount in his bowl. I was trying to show him how to get a piece of meat on his fork and then how to dip it into the ketchup. He attempted this task a couple of times but then just decided to stick his fingers in it and then lick his fingers!! He loved it! He wanted more and more. It was hilarious watching him try to pick up the ketchup in his fingers only to suck the life out of them. A boy after his mommy's heart. Ah, brings me back to the days of licking the ketchup packets in elementary school (you know you tried that). I gave him a graham cracker for his dessert and yes, you guessed it, he dipped it into the ketchup and ate it. I've put ketchup on a lot of things but never a graham cracker. Oh well, maybe this will be our new eating tactic to get Cole to finish meals...add some ketchup!
Before bedtime tonight, we introduced Cole to his very first toothbrush. A Winnie the Pooh toothbrush that is. I ran in under some water and attempted to brush his front bottom and top teeth. At first he sealed his lips shut but then became interested in it. He let me brush his teeth for a few seconds and then wanted to hold it on his own. He enjoyed putting it under the water and then bringing it to his mouth. He is turning into a big boy before my eyes. Can't believe it!
