Meeting the Pirates

Are you ready for some football?

Saturday evening, Charlie and I decided to go to the "Meet the Pirates" night at the football stadium.  We were so excited about taking Cole and letting him experience one of Greenville's finest...the ECU pirates!!  I told Charlie that I didn't care what we did, just as long as Cole got a picture with Patrick Pinkney (the quarterback). Charlie agreed and said that he wanted a picture with a lineman as well.  First we walked up to a lineman.  He was so used to just grabbing a poster or football to sign, that when we walked up with a baby, the other players with him said, "Oh, TJ...you're gonna have to sign his forehead!"  Charlie politely asked him if he would take a picture with our son.  He gladly agreed and wrapped his massive arm and hand around Cole.  Boy, he looked like a peanut with that lineman!

Then, we found Patrick Pinkney.  Charlie asked him if he would take a picture with Cole and Patrick smiled so big.  He threw open his arms and put Cole in his lap.  A photographer came over and started snapping pictures so Cole got distracted in one of my pictures.  The second one, he looked up at his daddy.  Patrick even held his little hand...it was so cute!  Patrick said, "precious, he is just precious."  I was really touched by the way he held Cole.  He seemed genuinely happy to hold such a precious little boy. He even asked for a copy of the picture.  I will be sending one to him!

So, let's see, we met a lineman and a quarterback...Cole still had one more to meet.  He had to have a picture with the #1 Pirate Fan in Greenville....his daddy!

On the way home, Cole took a few minutes to reflect upon his first experience with the ECU pirates!  He had a busy evening!  He was passed around and always had to have a smile on his face.  Then, when he couldn't reflect anymore, he decided to rest.  My precious, precious little boy, my how I love you.
